if you knew music theory very well, and you did piano technique excersizes, could you play piano well?

cause piano is very visual and my friend, who has been playing piano
for 7 years said this. i play guitar and i would like to learn the
piano. my theory is good so could i do this on my own tiem to learn
the piano well?
